Finally, after a year of engine overhaul and other issues N2908E '46 Aeronca 7AC is back in the air.The new engine mount from Wags came out perfectly.Put some ski fittings on while I had the engine off and will be installing my Consolidaire wheel fenders. Bought those as wrecks on Ebay. The brackets were fine but the fenders themselves looked like an elephant had walked on them then used them for target practice with a .50 cal.( ever see an elephant with a .50 cal. ? ). A local guy who is a wizz with an English wheel and a little TIG work saved them and they look fantastic.Hope to post some pics of the Champ sporting them.The -75 upgrade is great and looking forward to some fly-in breakfasts and the like.Now,if I can only figure out how to post some pics. Now dammit, post some pics! After all of this hassle you have all of us really wanting to see the airplane and especially the fenders and how they turned out!

Good for you Dave!
As for posting photos, other people may have some good advice on how to do it.
The way I do it is to download my photos to Photobucket and then put your curser under the photo and highlight the line that says IMG and right click that so you can hit copy, and then when you post something, you can left click paste to put the picture where you want it in the message.

Try going to the "photos of our airplanes" section and then go down to "test photo of NC1240E".
that's were I learned to post photos off of PhotoBucket with the help of some other members directions. Theres some pictures to help explain what I was talking about.
Hopefully you can understand some of the computer mumbo jumbo better than I can.
Try it until you get it.
Lets see some pictures of those air brakes.

This pic will have to do until I can get some more of the engine compartment,etc. Since this pic was taken I removed the honkin'-big N-numbers and went with small ones on the tail. Also replaced the rather oversized tailwheel with a regular-sized one and the metal prop with a wood one with the new -75 conversion. Ski tabs are in place in anticipation of some ski flyin' this winter.

Still waiting for the metal wizzard to redo my Consolidaire wheel fenders (air brakes) so I'll post some pics of the Champ sporting those.I still have the pictured wheel pants so if it turns out I don't like the look or a reduced cruising speed I'll go back to the -pants. I thought the fenders were gonners other than as patterns but I think I'll be able to use the originals due to some magic with an English wheel.I'll post before and after pics. I like it ! I have sunburst on the tops of the wings and hor. stabs as well. Wheel pants and fenders all have the same trim.

When I switched from wheel pants to the fenders it seemed to make very little difference on my cruise speed.

The place it really does help is in the inspection of the wheels and tires. I love wheel pants but trying to get inside to check air and brake clips is not easy. I finally gave up and just started taking the wheel pants off for inspection but on the Sedan it only takes about a minute so its not a hassle.

With these covers you can see and get to everything very easily.

When I first bought my Champ in '85 those wheel fenders were on it and I took them off so fast, I don't even have a picture of them. They were on my Champ for many years before, and kind of beat up, and I didn't think too much of them at the time.

I sold them to some kid at the airport for about $25.00. Now I wish I had them back, but I still don't think you could convince me to put them back on though. I'd like to have them because their a part of the history of the plane.
I just call them air brakes in fun.
