Looking through my boxes of stuff for my L3 project I came across a Marvel-Schebler MA-3 carb (the plain, no accelerator pump version). It's dusty and dirty and I haven't opened it up or anything. The original engine still has its Stromberg attached. No idea where this came from, probably the spare A-65 that came with the project.
Just wondering what the general opinion is on these carbs; are they (legally) usable on an A-65, are they worth using, do people want these, are they worth anything? Better or worse than the Strombergs?

It's a good carb for the 65. It should have a 10-xxxx number. This will tell you the application. The carbs can be built for different applications by substitution of internal components.
Have you made any progress on the L3 since my visit? We may be making another run to Spruce for some more wood and could stop for another visit.

You're welcome to stop by, Paul. But I am afraid I have not touched my project since I got it; I need to get my homebuilt finished and out of the shop to get the space. And pay off the Aeronca...But in lulls of inactivity I will make a start on cleaning up smaller items, perhaps pull the engines apart, clean up some control surfaces etc. A trip to England, a new compressor and other expenses cut into the budget severely this year.
The Walthen Foundation up at Flabob has an L3 I did not know about I belong to the aero club up there, where I mostly fly a Cub and there was talk of getting the L3 into the club - now that would make me happy! All it needs is some new cylinders from I know of it.
If you get down here perhaps a lunch stop at the new Corona airport cafe is called for?

Ah - I just discovered the number (it was VERY dirty!) The top reads : 176-80 and the lower: 10-2121.
