Stromberg carb

Post by David Nielsen »

This is my first post. It may be a tough one, maybe not.
Some background. I am building a biplane with an A-65. It is experimental of course. I have been working on the Stromberg carb and have replace almost all parts envolved. I have two questions.

1. The main discharge nozzle has a hole drilled in the hex that is used to install the nozzle. It appears as if it is used to safty wire it but I can't figure out how to do it. Anyone with advice or a picture?

2. The butterfly on the trottle shaft has been replaced along with the screws and lock washers. I think I need to stake the bolts. I sure wouldn't want anything falling down (or up) into the engine. Since this is a one time thing I hate to buy the tool. Can this be done any other way, then the tool?

Make the throttle valve screw staking anvil in figure 2-9 of the manual and adapt a long thin punch or chisel to stake the screws. jrh

N86250 and Mike,

Thanks for the help. It makes things so much easier. I book marked the repair instructions.

Thanks again

Dave,

Please do not stop with just the carb. Lots of other good info here on the bulletin board, so poke around or ask more questions if you have them.

Thanks Joe,
I'll do that. I will need help as the engine gets rebuilt. I'll ask a lot of questions. The guys on this board are real helpful.

Yes but the costs are high. At the Middletown Aeronca fly-in you get to buy us drinks! Course we then buy the next round! :)
