Anyone ever seen on of these? Aeronca Dealer Binder

Post by FlyingWrench »

I was given this leather bound Aeronca dealer book by my old boss 10 years ago. It is full of all kinds of behind-the-scenes documentation about being a Aeronca dealer both pre-war and post-war. It has all the business paperwork of Willards Flying Service. It describes how to sell an Aeronca airplane, how to finance an Aeronca airplane, how to form an Aeronca flying club, how to build a hangar, all with Aeronca stationary. It covers Champs, Chiefs, Sedan's, there is even something on the Aeronca Chum It also has a lot of original dealer brochures as well. It also covers engines and accessories. It is a real blast from the past. Thought I share it with the group. Anyone ever seen one before?

Cheers,
Dave

I'll take one of those McDowell starters for $82.50. Where do I send the check?

I would love to see more. I've been trying to find original sales stuff for my '49 7CCM. If no one else can, I could scan pages up to 8 1/2 x 11 and get them on Picasa. Probably Tod is best set up to make the material available and should get first crack at it. In any event please don't let the material go un pubished in digital format that is easy to share.

Dave,

Not sure if you know but that is a Jeppesen binder showing in the photo and have never seen one.

If you ever want to get rid of it, please let me know, or better than that, donate it to Todd Trainor and have him put it in the Aeronca Museum.

I've still got two of those leather Jepp binders--but they do not say Aeronca on them They were issued to me by an ex crop dusting service/airline in 1956 with their logo. They are still in my old flight kit surrounded by small bags of peanuts, flash light and tool kit.

Doug,

Same here. I have several of the leather Jepps binders with various names on them, none saying Aeronca though.

They are pretty much out of date these days. In the old days I used to have up to 20 of them on the jet, with charts from around the world. Now its one leather binder with highs, lows and area charts and everything else on an I-pad. What took days or weeks to update or check is now done in 15 minutes by pushing the "update charts" button.

I still have 17 of the Jepps Leather Binders and also only need one now and my electronic chart service. Anyone want to buy some? Even have some of the 1" Slim Line leather ones for trip packs.

Best thing is to put them on Ebay and see what you can get out of the ones you do not use.
