Mine has the Scott 3200.
Mot sure what the difference is in the springs so I can't honestly answer that question.
It unlocks but to me seems like it is very hard to unlock, especially if I am trying to do it by hand when I pull it into the hanger. Have to give it a kick to snap over.

Re: Champ Owner's Questions:
Mine has Aviation Products, with tension springs- haven't had any problems at all, but currently changing to compression springs- if badness starts, I'll report it!

Re: Champ Owner's Questions:
If you find the steering arms getting bent upwards, or a chain snaped, it is because the compression springs did not have enough travel. IMHO

Re: Champ Owner's Questions:
Success at last..
Today I did the following: Changed out the mail leaf springs (pain in the a$$), added new tension springs and link chains to the ATI tailwheel (note- I could only get three links of chain between the tension spring and tailwheel fork).
Then I took a "test" taxi, and whalah.. success at last. Works perfect as it should. Thanks for your input, it really helped.

Re: Champ Owner's Questions:
I'm also working on my Scott 3200 at the moment and found a Scott info sheet which says there should be about 25lbs tension on those steering springs. Lot more than I have been using.
I'm still looking for ideas about torque on the AN7 bolt fastening the tailwheel assembly to the leaf springs. The leaf springs have to move some as they flex. One is slotted the other just has a bolt hole. If bolted up too tight that might interfear with the movement.
Free advice anyone?
