Wing Dihedral

Post by Seatabria »

I am recovering the wings on my experimental built Citabria and am considering reducing the wing dihedral from the standard 2 degrees to 1 degree (similar to a Decathalon). All of the wing and fuselage strut attach points and hardware in my A/C are exactly the same as any standard 7-series Champ (Citabria).

Does anyone know if this can be done by simply exchanging the existing front strut with a Decathalon front strut as it is 1 inch shorter and l was told it "looks the same". I am hoping that the rear strut can be saved and just adjust the length using the threaded fork which has about an inch of thread showing.

The other option would be to make up a new/special upper front strut attach point that would allow me to reuse the front struts.

Any thoughts from the Champ/Citabria/Decathalon experts out there are welcome.

The 8KCAB strut is a different animal, I'm not saying it won't work but it's not a bolt on swap.
