I am looking to help out a friend and find some information on L-3 wing spars. Anyone have dimensions? Pictures?
Cheers,
David

David,
You might want to contact Paul Agaliotis. He has re-built a TAC tandem and just bought a fairly complete L-3. He's known to haunt this list,
occassionally lifting his rock to peer outside. He father-in-law, 87 years young, still builds wood wings. He just had cataract surgery but, unfortunately,
he doesn't wear glasses any longer!

David,
What information were you looking for? The dimensions can be had from the bluprints, NAA or Todd should have them. If you have the old spars you can measure fron them.

Re: L-3 wing Spar information needed
A friend is trying to ID some unknown spars. He thought they were T-cart, they weren't. Then he thought they were Champ spars, but we have an example of a Champ and they weren't. They are similar, but the strut fitting attachment is different. Someone suggested L-3 and I was just looking for a picture or detailed measurements etc to help out a buddy.
Thanks,
Dave
Thanks,
Dave

Re: L-3 wing Spar information needed
Dave,
The rear spar of the L3 has a big oval hole for the aileron bellcrank. The rear strut fitting is a forged end that looks at home on your fathers Oldsmobile. Also the wing tip is positioned at the spars using a pin inserted into the spar tip, assuring that the spar splits when you drag it on the ground.

Thanks Paul, that should make an ID definitive. I will pass the info along.
