david clark head set ?

Ok when i git my champ home from out of state ill need a head set. iam thinking mabe david clark. ok what model do i want? looking at used on ebay but its confusing.thers about 7 or 8 defent models . what do i need ? whats a good model number? HELP thanks Bob

I use a noise cancelling headset, too many round engines. I went with the DRE 6001, I have had good use from it and the price is about 425 to 450.

Go to a small airport, explain your situation and try several models on. The DC is a good unit but like Paul I am too old with too many years flying next to a round engine, so have a noise canceling unit.

One is a Bose, other is a Telex, both noise canceling. Not cheap but they sure work well...

I highly recommend the David Clark H10-13.4.
The used ones are still holding their value! I've found that the PilotMall dot com had the best price.

I agree with everyone on the Noise Canceling ones if your budget allows. I a have a Bose (About $995.00) for me and a David Clark (About $600.00) for passengers. I do like to hear the engine and I can switch off the noise canceling (or have the battery die) if I want. I still have on David Clark 10-20, two 10-30s and a 10-40 that all work well. My Telex Airman 750 I only use in a cockpit with the engines way in the back.

I use the Dave Clark 10-13.4. My hearing is not the best. This model works great for me! Price is reasonable and quality is excellent. Paying 8-900 dollars for a headset for this type aircraft seems abit much for me.JP

OK, I know this is an older post, but if you (Bob) decide you want noise cancelling after all, you can upgrade the DC's w/ a Headsets, Inc kit. I've upgraded 5 headsets and they work great for a fraction of the cost. Splurge for AMP cable. Its worth it to get rid of having a seperate power cable.

my 10-13.4 s are working good. but when i key the mic thay some times make a noise. ( running through a sigtronics intercom and a icom 6 radio) my son has a comtronics head set and it never has any problems. any one have any ideas? thanks Bob

I use an old set of H10-30 DCs and other than needing the ear seals replaced, they work just great.

I've got an older set of DC's that are not noise canceling but they sure beat nothing at all which is what I used to do. However I have found that a pair of the foam earplugs with the headset is the ticket. Really makes things comfortable and you can still hear things through the headset, although I do turn the radio up some. Another thing I like about the DC's; I had purchased these used from a friend and they had developed a problem in them. I sent them in to DC and they fixed them free, no questions asked.
