Remote engine heater control

Post by MikeB »

I just finished building a $30 electrical "hot box" engine heater for my L16. I'll post pictures of it later for anyone who might be interested. Works real well. We had a propane type heater but I was always afraid to leave it operating for any amount of time unless I was there keeping track of it. I'm looking for a 'cheap' remote control that I can turn on from my telephone. I've seen some in the $200 range but would be interested in something more reasonable (unsure what that price would be, I guess  ). It would have to able to handle at least a 15 amp load. I know this isn't a problem for some of you in the warmer climates but I always preheat once the temperature gets to 35 degrees and it would be nice to click the heater on from home a hour or two before I head to the airport.

Appreciate suggestions :D
