41 SuperChief Fuel Rod Information Needed

Post by skookum »

I am interested in obtaining an original fuel control rod, or knowing what they looked like. My plane came with a toggled up arrangement - homemade from a fuel valve which turned 90 degrees (I think it was a brass fuel/kerosene shutoff valve found on potbelly stoves). I am not sure if the existing fuel control rod is the original as it does not appear to be something that would be conducive to pulling and pushing.

I have purchased a new (STC) fuel valve from Burl's in Alaska to replace the leaky old twist valve and now must find a suitable fuel shutoff rod with knob to install with the new valve. Hopefully, it should be adjustable for length and correct for installation.

I have looked at the DVD Aeronca Drawings Disk and have not found drawings # 2-226 or 2-231 which are associated with the fuel rod for the 65 CA engine and the Chief/Superchief model.

Anyone have what is known to be in the Aeronca Superchief 1941 era, or have any photos of the correct install?

Thank you for any help.

A real name with your posts would be nice. We are a friendly group here.

I am the moderator and have both of the blueprints you mentioned. Do you still need them? If so please email (icon is on my post at the bottom) and let me know, can email them out tomorrow.

Thx,
