Re: winter flying?

I took my Chief up this morning -- it loves this cold air!

I use aluminum tape over the oil blast hole (the one directly under the prop) and it seems to help keep oil temps up and allow the carb heat to actually work.

We had a small break in the weather this morning so I headed to the airport early.

Winds were light and variable on the ground, but there was a strong westerly flow 1000' up. The boundary layer extended from 500' AGL to about 900' AGL and was a bit rough! So I climbed above it.
