Waiting for Daytona to start (Hey! I'm a motorhead ) where it's apparently raining as usual and wondering where do they get these weird groups for prerace 'entertainment'? Also, is it possible to find someone to sing our National Anthem without murdering it? In the old days we used all stand, remove our hats, hands over our heart and sing along with the band.
Well, hoping to see a good performance out of local driver Paul Menard or my old guy Mark Martin.
I remember Martin when they brought him up to run on the midwest circuit (ASA?). I believe he was 18 years old at the time. Now I believe he's about 55. Menard's dad owns a bunch of home improvement stores in the midwest (Menards) so no shortage of money there but that's apparently what it takes to prime the pump. He does Ok against some pretty tough competition.
The singer wasn't that bad this time although I still like the traditional way without all the "Waaaaves " but then I'm an old foggy.
Our National Anthem is not a song for performers to ‘make their own’. Just sing it and sing it right. Leave your performances for another day.
I’ve been a Kenseth fan since he joined the Cup series so I was happy with the outcome. Thanks to the DVR or I wouldn’t have seen hardly any of it. Still it took half of my Tuesday to watch, even skipping commercials. Retirement is a wonderful thing.

Hey Larry, How are things down there in Sigourney, Weesiana? I used to live in Funroe (Monroe), way up in the Northeast corner.
Not retired yet, but I guess I am an old foggy too and like those things that are traditions in our country to stay the way they were done and intended.

Sorry there RPK but you've got the wrong Sigourney. This one is in Iowa; in fact I had no idea there were even any more of them anywhere. There's Sigourney Weaver but it's not her real name, she saw it somewhere and thought it would make a cool stage name. Too bad she didn't learn how to pronounce it right though. The accent is on the first syllable. I have heard of a sewing club around here called the Sigourney Weavers.
Other than that, things are fine here in Iowa but the damn wind won't quit blowing. Not compaining though, not after see what some poor folks have had happen to them over the past couple of days. The wind here may be keeping me grounded but at least the roof is still on my house.
