Will experiment with a GoPro camera mounted to the plane, too, this Summer. Have read reports about installing grey filters in front of the lens that help to reduce the scimitar propeller effect by increasing exposure time per frame. Several impressive filter tests can be viewed on YouTube. Search for "GoPro neutral density filter" or something similar.

Nice video. I notice that there is some green grass growing up north, so I'll be heading north pretty soon. I noticed that if you look real close, the earth seems to shake like a bowl of jello -- which is something I'm trying to avoid. I've tried to locate my movie camera on my Champ to a location where the airframe does not vibrate, without much success. The only way I know how to avoid the appearance of "jello movement" of the earth is to hold the camera in my hand. I'm wondering if you have found a spot to attach your camera that minimizes that shaking movement?

That's guys! The camera is a Drift 170HD. I paid about $150 for it from B & H but notice the price has gone up to around $200. It comes with a bunch of different hookup attachments. You do get the 'fish eye' look though, but it really doesn't bother me. For these shots I actually tiewrapped one of the attachment to the jury strut just to see how it would work. The camera just snaps in. I'm thinking if I made another (better) mount and angled it more toward the outer part of the wing tip I might get away from the prop image although having part of the plane on their doesn't look out of place either. Nice thing is that it has a remote feature so you can start and stop the the camera while in flight.

I also made another mount at the "Y" tubes at the top of the windshield. You do get the prop effect and a bit of windshield reflection but much less vibration.

Not sure how much I'll use it but it was nice yesterday when it was wet and rainy (and I was sick with a cold) to look at some previous flights I had downloaded on the computer.
