I took a couple more pictures last week. It's getting close!!!

By the way, I make engine noises even when the engine is running!

Craig, that is pretty. You gotta give us a video of it flying. I can almost hear the 2 cylinder Aeronca engine running from Georgia! David J.

It's been awhile since my last update. It's close, but we all know that the last 10% takes 90% of the time. It's together enought that I've got a good bit of taxi time and the engine is running perfect!!!! It was on display at Arlington last year

The last piece of the puzzle is replacing some skin on an aileron. I hate to say how many hours (years) I have in this. I've been trying to figure out how to best make the skins for a long time. Trial and error along with some old articles I think the only reason the C-2 and C-3 had metal ailerons, was that they took over the hangar (#4 at Lunken), that was the Flamingo Metal Aircraft factory. I bet they had a whole bunch of corregated Aluminum and tooling sitting there.

More to follow in the near future!!!! First flight is nearer every day!!!

Fantastic, Craig!

Wow, looks like the fabrication of that left aileron afforded a bit of time... But very nice work, congratulations!
Will you bring or fly her to Middletown in June? Would love to watch and hear you take off for a hop around the patch. Have never seen a C-2 or C-3 in reality, before.

Matt,
thanks for the encouragement! Along with getting good at rivets, I'm also getting good at drilling out rivets!!

I thought I would put a couple more pics out on the site. I hope to have the aileron done this weekend and then it's final rig check and Annual.

My dream is to get this to Middletown, but I'm in Seattle and June is upon us!! I will be there, but everyone I know would rather see the plane more than seeing me. I completely understand that!!!

Test fit on a wing. The ailerons have 4 hinge points, so alignment is a good thing to check along the way.

I'm very happy with the trailing edge. My first go had a few wiggles. I finally came up with a pretty good way to jig it. Can anyone count the number of C3 fuselages in the picture?

Take your time, Craig,

No sense in rushing things and putting yourself under pressure.
Once your C-2N is safely flying, it won't matter, if you brought it to Middletown 2012 or 2014.

Greg,
Good talking to you. I'll be happy to help with your aileron.

Keep up the good work. I'll get you some better pictures of my project. I'll also get some better ones on this site.

Craig

It was a real treat for us to witness your C-2 flights at Middletown. Congratulations on a wonderful achievement!
To honor it, I have posted a picture of NC11276 on the title page of our website, during yesterday's update.
