Oshkosh Bound??
Oshkosh Bound??
Air Adventure starts in a couple of weeks (July 22 which also happens to be my birthday
). Even though it's a lot of wandering around in the hot sun I look forward to it every year. Weather permitting I plan to fly the L16 in this year and camp in the vintage area (is that for vintage aircraft or vintage pilots
?) Unsure what days I'll go over but hope to see some Aeroncateers there.

I'll be way down in Vintage Camping/South Forty. Anyone wants a wing to sit under where it is pretty quiet come on down.

N83729, my 1946 Champ and I plan to camp out in the vintage campground. I may arrive early (on Friday) to avoid the onbound crowd. Bit I live about an hour south of OSH at C77.

Re: Oshkosh Bound??
Was hoping to make it, but I'll be a couple days early dropping off a CarbonCub, then heading for New York. Take some pics for those that can only be there in spirit.
Happy birthday Mike!

Bad luck, Mike. I got one word for you.......shotgun!
Take care and get well

I've tried the shotgun but it rains here in Oregon. Didn't work out in the end.
Ladders are too dangerous for pilots, learn from the mistakes of others. Lost my best A & P to one. His last flight was short and steep.
I'm shooting to arrive Monday or Tuesday. Approach may be buisy but at least all can enter. Run into one of the mass arrivals and you may be circling for an hour waiting for stragglers.
Hope to visit with other Aeroncateers down in vintage.

Re: Oshkosh Bound??
Bats in hanger--take water hose and spray them--when they fly out shoot them--works everytime--birds in hangar--use .22 cal with bird shot.
Keep the pointed end forward--
The dirty side down.....
And the blue skies on top....

Re: Oshkosh Bound??
now you guys tell me
. someone also mentioned shooting them with the hornet spray ...shoots about 20 feet. sorry for the poor typing, tough with only my left hand useable. looks like i'll be laid up ...in a cast...for at least 6 weeks with no flying.....that really hurts.
i've had a bad rotator cuff for years on top of the now broken wrist ...might have to do a package deal.
i guess at 73...sunday...might need a complete overhaul rather than a patch job.

Re: Oshkosh Bound??
Okay, after you guys shoot the birds and bats with your .22, you will probably discover you have some new roof leaks. As a metal roofing professional, I seldom share my secrets, but will here. You can crawl around on your roof all day and look for the holes, but I promise you won't get them all. Wait 'til dark, light up the inside of the hangar real well, then get up on the roof. You'll spot all those little holes very easily!

Re: Oshkosh Bound??
The Mighty Ninety in my 7CCM climbed to eleven five between Kalispell and Cut Bank Montana over the spine of the Rockies after riding lovely tailwinds all the way from the Coast of Oregon. The view was spectacular, but not for long as with the tailwind I saw 150 mph on the gps groundspeed over Marias Pass. And the air was smooth, go figure. Now in the heat and soup arrived in Mobridge SD late and tired.
Looking forward to a Monday arrival and camping down in Vintage.
You all be safe out there.

Richard, sorry I missed you when you stopped at Dodge Center for fuel sunday afternoon. I looked up from mowing just as you were taking off to the south and turning east.
