Continental C 85 engine lifting plate needed

Post by DELCOM »

Hi everyone

I'm looking for a lifting ring for the small continental C85 engine. It is the small plate that is attached to the bolts that hold the engine cases together on the upper half of the engine. Any one have or know where to get one. Thanks in advance

Dell,
Fresno Airparts has them.
If you have the case with the casting up top that looks like they forgot to install something. The standard plate won't fit. The bolt patterns are different.

If you haven't ordered one yet, I think I have one. Will look this afternoon and get back to you.

Brien

I have not ordered one yet. It would be great if you have one. 2 1/2" hole seperation. I do not have any special casting to the case.

Thanks

I do in fact have what Paul mentioned, a special casting to the case half that looks like a flat spot that something could be mounted there. Although it is un machined and just a flat area. Might be for holding a beer can while working on the engine.LOL

It is 2 1/2" between holes.

Does anyone have a photo of the one I need?

After looking back to my original post on this with my photo and your reply I now see that you are perfectly aware of what I have. Sorry for so many replys. Some days are better than others. The restoration is coming along very well and making great progress. I will post a few photos in the next few days.

Del,

Looked all over the hangar and cannot find that ring. I swear I have one, but must have put it in a "safe": place. My engine also has the optional beer can holder, and my lift ring is a single bolt affair. We hung the engine recently and it worked fine. Maybe Fresno would be your best bet, if they have the single bolt version it would work on anything.
