Control Cable exit Ports

Post by EDGEFLY »

I made a post on this topic in Fabrics and coverings more than a week ago which has received no response to date. I am introducing it here in hopes of bringing it to the attention of more forum members and perhaps some assistance from Chief owners. Please see my earlier post for details. Thanks

As for the other stuff. I cut out a teardrop of leather and install it with contact cement. Stay away from Teflon and plastics, most are very abrasive.

In the for what it's worth dept. On my Champ I called American Champion and procured the fairings from them. They are stamped stainless and are in excellent condition after several years of service so far. I expect they will last forever. I did take great care in placement so as not to have ANY extra rubbing from the rudder cables upon exiting the fusealage fabric.

More 'for what it's worth department'. I used a seaplane drain and cut the middle out of it so the cables wouldn't rub on the plastic, made a neopreme 'tear drop' and glued the whole thing is place. I did this on both my Champ and L16...kind of a neat and cheap installation.
