The sad thing is that there is no reason for the fuel costs to go up. There is no war going on, there has been no disruption of the oil flows, its just that the OPEC jerks keep slowly raising the price and we are forced to pay it.
Sorry but IMHO we should have been drilling in our own country years ago and IMHO should start tomorrow. The only good that we are doing right now is running the middle east out of their oil and eventually we will be the only area in the world with oil. Course that will be several hundred years away and we will be gone then... hopefully our kids kids will prosper from this.

I know it's slowed down my flying. Especially since I'm still running as much 100LL as I can in my 'new engine' or at least until I get some more hours on it. Fly off ten gallons out fiddling around and punching holes in the sky and it's $50 some bucks. I don't really have any other 'vices' (at my age what vices can you have 
) and I have a decent retirement fund but I still think twice about unnecessary trips On the other hand as pilots we are required to keep up our proficency so maybe they are 'necessary'. I don't think we will ever get the economy back until we get the cost of energy down to a reasonable price and $5.50-6.00 a gallon isn't a reasonable amount for most folks disposable income (if there is such a thing).
