Winds 3 to 5 kts Var/temp 40 deg. F/ sky Clr to 25000 ' // Next to nothing for traffic, sunshine and a free day!! I am sure many of you are saying "What more could you ask"? Well, I did as would !! The Chief and I escaped the surly bonds of earthbound beings and left the unwilling, or at least unable, to their fates whatever they may be. Off to the northeast and by ourselves in uncluttered airspace we went. Unfortunately, there were problems ahead. Soon, the small gaps between the top engine cowling and the windshield letting streams of less than 40 deg air into the cockpit. Oh well, I had planned on taking care of that and will. Ahhh, then it became apparent that these streams were not just at a spot or two but more or less all across the top of the cowling. A bigger problem, but one which can be solved in one work session....
Besides, I had been so clever as to turn on the Cabin Heat and that should make up for some of the chill....But, the Hanlon-Wilson info which I got from the forum also had not been acted on, soo a little chillier than before....Oh the joys of being a Northern flyer this time of year.
Maybe a part of the solution is to just fly south for a month or two. Biggest problem there is that to really go where I want, that transponder system which many of you have been helping with is going to have to be prioritized. Hope the skeeters in. Ga & Fla don't come through the windshield gaps as easily as the early Fall frosties.
