You don't ground Dipoles (Balanced antenna), but sometimes changing the angle will help as the change will result in a change in polarization. Filters on the Mags and Shielded leads for the spark plugs should help the most. If you coil the coax 6 turns of about 6 inch diameter, it will make a choke, which might help. A Vertical antenna (Single wire over a good ground) could help also. You can try grounding the radio especially if you are using an external battery rather then the internal battey pack. A24s are a little finiky about voltages through.

Bob,
If your post of 0823 this AM, was in response to my earlier one today, I must not have made my question clear. my specific question is with regard to specific products compatible with Eiseman Slick magnetos for the purpose of eliminating magneto noise in radio circuits and in lieu of commercial packages, specific components and schematical integration of them with the Slicks for this purpose.

Re: Terrible Transmission above Idle
Dale, I have Bendix Mags and got the Filters by calling the Sales Desk at Aircraft Spruce, who hooked me up with them. - Bo

Re: Terrible Transmission above Idle
Probably of little help........My last two airplanes were a VERY nice 85 HP Champ, electric start, etc. with a transceiver mounted under the panel. Antenna was mounted outside , on top of the cockpit. Mags were slicks. No static, worked great. Next was a trophy type BC12D taylorcraft , same location for antenna, wired into receptacle- holder on far left side of panel tHat the builder made. Handheld Icom hooked up to this. Some static but easy to read both transmissions and receive. In both airplanes I had a Dave Clark lightweight headset (around 200 bucks a set) worked VERY well. No intercom in either plane. Dart airport, D79 Mayville N.Y. Has a lot of people who are savvy including the owner Greg Dart. Also Ed Krause and Randy Rizjan, who owns a t craft and recently built a very nice Sonex. not too far from you, I kept my Champ there a few years back,2800 feet grass, easy to find at the top of lake Chautauqua. Good Luck! Jim P. ( The T Craft had Eiseman mags, unshielded ignition. Mags worked GREAT.)
Re: Terrible Transmission above Idle
Full size radios have much better front ends on their receivers and much better shielding. All part of the price /TSO etc.
