Tail brace wires

Are the tail brace wires supposed to be painted?

I paint mine.

I would rather protect them with too much paint rather than deal with rust later.

If they're steel, paint them.
Stainless is optional. If left bare, keep them clean.

However, they can't be chromed if I remember correctly.

Mine were in pretty bad shape. I thought about all the work to get them chromed, or cleaned and painted. Then I found out that American Champion (not far from me) has new chromed parts at a reasonable price. Sorry, I forgot the actual price. I just took off the old, put on the new (with help from my A&P/IA) and they look great.
