I am working on a center console to install between the Pilot and the Passenger seat in front of the seat bench. This has been done before in Chiefs. The electronics equipment (2 Handhelds and an Intercom) are all portable equipments so there should be no need for a 337 for them. One area that I am uncertain of is the attachment of the console itself to the A/C. The reference system has it fastened to the floor Boards with Screws. Can anyone direct me to the FAR provisions which may all self-installation without formal paper work. This would not impact the control or aerodynamic configuration and would not involve any modification of the certified aircraft frame. I will, of course check this out with my local A&P but think I need to have a good compilation of what Owner installed modifications are allowable by regulation.
