L3 Paint scheme

I am trying to find a definitive answer and haven't been able to:

Were the undersides of items like struts and landing gear legs painted grey, or were they simply doused with Olive Drab like almost everything else? And if the were, was the demarcation line masked or was it simply sprayed?

Almost all period photos are too fuzzy to make out this detail; the underside of struts and landing gear is always in shadow, so appears darker anyway. I have seen pictures that would seem to show main and jury struts completely O.D. and some that do seem to show a lighter shade underneath.

It's difficult finding details like this and while I am not trying to take authenticity to an impractical level, I'd like to get it close.

Any ideas?

Peter,
All of the information I've seen calls for OD paint. The insignias have their own drawing and instructions. Some of the planes had some pretty unique paint schemes, but they were all export models. I would think that the receiving nation would have added the custom colors in house.
