A65 parts for sale

Post by MikeB »

I'm in the process of cleaning out the shop and may just as well sell a couple of 'short block engines. I was keeping them for parts but doubt I'll ever need them. Here's what I have: two A65 blocks (both have tags....one has logs back to 1962, the other no logs). Two tapered cranks: both standard with measurements near the service limits but they should most likely be reground. If you're interested I can furnish the exact measurements. Also have rods, gears, lifters and bodies, accessory cases, camshafts, intake spider and tubes, various small parts. Probably everything except cylinders, magnetos and carbureators. Both engines are disassembled but have been stored in my shop, oiled and wrapped since I took them apart. The engine with logs I flew for a couple of years before replacing it with another for low compression. I'd just as soon have local pickup at my place (western Wisconsin) as I don't know how I'd be able to ship everything. I want to sell everything as a package and it should be worth $1000 which will help me with my Chief project  .
Let me know if you're interested.

Related to my previous post (some interest but parts aren't sold yet) my wife and I are headed by pickup to San Antonio, Texas in January, most likely headed from the Twin Cities down I35. I can deliver the parts if more or less on the way. PM me if interested.

Mike,

What;s the going price on an A65 these days?
I'd love to take it all off your hands if we were closer (geographically) together. Too many miles to make the deal work now, but if I head west again and get near you I'll I will see if you still have everything.

Richard,
I think $1000 is a fair price for what's there, especially if someone needs a block or crank (even if they need a regrind or block service) as A65 parts are getting hard to find. I was going to build an A65 but my "new" (to me) 11CC Chief project came with what appears to be a low time C85 engine so I really have no use for the A65 parts and they're taking up storage place in my shop.

On the other hand: I'd trade all the parts for complete McDowell starter setup....fat change I suppose!!

Mike,
Did you sell the A-65 parts? I'd come and get'em for that price.

I have a case - four cylinders - and a yellow tagged taper crank from Aircraft Specialties I'd sell for $1500
