Muffler vs. Straight Pipes

Anyone have any experience as to the difference in exhaust restriction, between straight pipes, and the Hanlon?Wilson or C150 exhaust.

I ran the straight "Y" pipes for about 8 years on my Champ. Just recently switched over to the Hanlon-Wilsons and have been very happy. It's hard to tell if they're more restrictive with out putting them on a flow bench. But for what it's worth, I don't think they're any worse than the straight pipes, and infact a little better. On a Champ, the "Y" pipes are 1" tubing from the riser down, so you're pushing 2 exhaust out a 1" tube. On the H-W's it's a 1" riser into a 5" collector, then out a 2" tail pipe. As an added benefit to the H-W, you get more cabin and carb heat, plus it's a good bit quieter in the cabin and it has a healthy sound as it fly's over.

Just my opinions.
