I am having some float covers manufactured, they are for my EDO 2000's but apparently will fit other models?
Any interest in these, I tried to purchase plastic ones from lake and Air but they are not making them anymore. Kenmore has them but VERY expensive.
Thinking they might come out to $50 or $60 shipped?

Re: Any interest in EDO float covers?
Hi,
There had been some for sale on eBay. You may want to check. Also, you might find that Ed Peck in Canada has them much cheaper than Kenmore.
Not sure if you are a member of SeaplaneForum.com, but if not I would suggest you sign up and post there. Lots of Seaplane Discussions as well as selling and buying. No charge, but due to issues with hackers, their is no Register Button on the site.
E-mail Jason Baker at Seaplaneforum at sign gmail dot com and in the subject line put:
"rkittine recommended I get on this site"
and provide him a User Name and 6 or more Character Password.
As a seaplane kind of guy, I am sure you will enjoy it.
Ed Peck can be contacted at 902-467-3333 or Sales at sign peckaero dot com.
Also try Twitchells Seaplane Base in Maine at 207-225-3490. They always have lots of parts.
Best Bob

Re: Any interest in EDO float covers?
Bob,
Yeah I spoke with Ed, the issue there is shipping and duty, which all of a sudden make them more expensive than Kenmore.
I have an eBay search, lots of gaskets, no covers
I definitely will join seaplaneforum, thanks. I have searched the forum recently and not seen any covers.
Basically I'm having some stamped for me, and to defray costs, I could have more stamped. I wanted to judge if there was any interest.
Seems they come off or are lost and end up at the bottom of the lake, in my case the floats I got did not have any and I am 'borrowing' a set until I can get some made.

Re: Any interest in EDO float covers?
I have pump outs installed so not a lot of need to remove the covers. Just check them from time to time to make sure they are secure. I have a tool too that looks like a spider that allows me to easily take the covers off and to easily secure them tightly.
Did you try Twitchell's?
Cheers Bob

Re: Any interest in EDO float covers?
Bob, Yes I called Twichell's and they have nothing like that.
I should be able to beat by a substantial margin the new price from EDO.
One wonders given the part is stamped from a single thickness piece of aircraft aluminum, how they can charge $90 it.

Re: Any interest in EDO float covers?
It is a little nuts. If I remember correctly the ones on E-bay were about $50 each.

Re: Any interest in EDO float covers?
Bob, that's what I was hoping to sell them for, more along the lines of what they are actually worth.

Re: Any interest in EDO float covers?
Hi All,
Well they are complete, after many trials and tribulations, I have the first run of EDO float "handhole" covers!
I have them listed on eBay, but any forum members can get them from me at a discount:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/131679755420?ss ... 1555.l2649
I didn't realize it when I started this project, but these covers should fit EDO Model 1650, 2000, 2440, 2700's and others.
