L16 photo from ebay

Post by Curt DeBaun III »

Several years ago there was a photo of an L16A that was in the USAF at the time with the number 260 on the side for sale on ebay. I was just starting the restoration of my airplane and I copied any and all pictures of L16s that I came across. After the restoration was complete (in CAP markings), I realized that one of those pictures, the one mentioned above, was actually my airplane. I was lucky enough to have saved the ebay scan, but it is a poor image and I would like to find the original photo. Would anyone out there of purchased it or know where I might find it?

BTW, my airplane, which won Grand Champion Classic at Middletown 5 years ago, was recently badly damaged when a storm blew in the doors of the hanger and blew off the roof. I have considered putting it back as it was in the USAF photo, but will probably stick to the CAP marking to be different. Look for it to be back at Middletown next year.

Thanks,

Do you remember the N number in the Ebay listing. I have been recording every Aeronca I see for sale with as much information as I can collect. I may have what you need, but I have it all saved by N number and possible serial number.

Looking forward to seeing you and the airplane next year in Middletown.

The 260 probably represents s/n 47-1260. If so,I think that plane is N6702C, 7BCM488. I have the military records for 47-1260.

No N number while it was kin the military. William C is correct. It is currently N6702C. I have a letter form the Air Force which lists deployments. If anyone has more details that that, I would truly appreciate them.
