Hi everyone, I purchased an Aeronca L-3 (C-85) which I'd like to restore with the counter clockwise moving tach. The tach currently installed is a modern Westac with the modern tach drive cable attachment.
The tach I would like to install requires the tach cable to threat into the instrument (see attached photo) which does not work with the modern tach cable of the engine (see photo).
Does anyone know of any adapters available or used any methods to convert to this type of tach?

Some of the tacs will have an internal threaded attachment and a large square drive. If you have a local speedometer shop they can help you with the parts. Check with an antique car club in the area.
Other suggestions would be one of the specialized instrument shops. John Bull or Instruments of Lock Haven.
I have a 65TCA that is very similar to your L3, let me know if I can help.
