Glad to have found you. First time caller. I have a 1946 7DC, had it for about 10 years, love it. Have rebuilt it twice, I now have 1000 hours on the engine. It's still runs great. My question is concerning the wing struts. The firts time I had the wings off I tried to put Marvel Mystry oil in them as best I could. Is there a service bullitin to drill holes in the struts and add a corrosion material to prevent corrision, if so what is recommended to slosh around in the strut. I have taped with a soft mallet on the struts and everything seems OK.

We're glad you found us too!

Many folks slosh linseed oil in the struts to help prevent corrosion on the inside.

There is a modern replacement to Linseed oil and thats made by LPS (pretty sure). It kind ahas the consistancy of snot with the look of ear wax. (I think this is why I dont like to touch it).
Basically you want think and pasty kinda waxy stuff to coat the inside of the strut. Then moisture does not run down the strut to the drain hole, but rather down the 'ear wax like stuff' to the drain hole.

I am really pulling from memory (accuracy is poor) but I think its along the lines of LPS 1007...maybe a 'B' thrown in there. I am sure a good google search will turn it up.
