Lycoming O-320E3D McCauley Prop Vibration...
I have recently been flying a different Airplane (Piper PA-28-150). We noticed that it has a substantial Vibration when advancing the throttle form Idle up through about 1100 RPM. We have checked Prop Tracking and Blade angles. Has anyone ever had this problem with the higher Horse power Engines? My 172 has the O-320 E2B, and does not show this tendency. I was just curious if this might be a trait of Piper Cherokees. Any opionions are appreciated.
Thanks, Champdriver.

I had a Cherokee 140 (150 horse) that I owned for 25 years and just sold it last year. I don't remember any vibration at the bottom end, but it did tend to have somewhat of a harmonic vibration at 2300 RPM. So I always ran it near 2400 where it was smooth. The other thing I noticed about it was it hated carb heat. Especially in warm weather it would drop big time and no, there wasn't any exhaust leaks to the carb heat system either. I tore the whole thing apart looking for one. Finally decided that's the way it was going to operate and lived with it.

I was around, but not for long. You wouldn't have noticed me, the hat said CubCrafters.
Plus I ended up having to work on the plane all day sunday and monday in the Weeks hangar to get it airshow-worthy. I got 5 hours on tuesday morning before my silver tube headed south. Really bummed me out, I was hopeing to get over to the NAA tent but didn't. Did get to meet Jerry Jr. though.

[quote="Nathan K. Hammond"]Would that be the 4 legged or 2 legged version?
Doesn't matter, I'll take one of each!

Nathan: I would not recommend either, as one will raise cholesteral and the other will drop protein levels

Check for proper propeller Indexing to the engine....some A/C are very
critical in this area, just one bolt hole can make a world of difference.
