Regarding airspeed, my CFI and I were working on my biennual today. Bit on the windy side, but what the heck, need to fly in that too. Direct crosswind at about 12 kts I can handle that on grass :) Anyway, took off to do some airwork (man, it was rough). Wow! What a wind at altitude! Smooth as glass above 2500 feet msl, but no go for air speed. We were doing slow flight and I turned the gps on and indicated 13 mph. Decided to fly to Eau Claire and check out their new tower operations and make a couple of black top landings. Indicated 125 mph going up  and 40 mph coming back  . So that averages about 83 mph, which is about what I usually figure.
