13 gal wingtank installation

Post by Robert »

Hello everyone, I've just bought a champ with a cracked spar and am waiting for the new one. I think this could be good time to put the 13 gal. tanks in the wings or at least one of them, the right wing has a small tank in it now. I have the 13 gal tanks but no mounts, do any of you have any pictures or drawings of the mounts you could share with me?
Thanks
Bob

Bob,

Which engine do you have in the bird? There are a lot of people who do stick an extra tank in the wings while doing some work on it. There are 5.5 and 13 gallon tanks (I believe) and the smaller tanks take less mods.

If you have a smaller engine (65 or 75) you might want to put one or two 5.5 tanks in as opposed to the larger ones. Course if you have an O-200 then you might want the extra fuel.

There should be drawings that came with the tanks. If they did not come with the drawings then hopefully someone here can make you a copy.

Hi joea. It's a c85. I just have the 13 gal. tanks only, no info. If it turns out to be a simple process I think I'd like to put at least one of them in. Where I live it can be a long way between stops.

Robert,

WagAero sells the 13 gallon tanks. I'd give them a call and see if they've got the drawings and/or mounts to go along with them. If they don't, try ACA.

Robert,
I have two sets of 12 gallon tanks with various acroutrements. If you can wait a few days, I can pull them down and get pics and measurements.

Nathan, that's the ticket, I have the straps and rubber strips and drawing coming from Wag-Aero. This is going to be a vast improvement for me and my dog Pig, he won't have to share the backseat with fuel cans.

Carl, if you don't mind sending those pictures I'd still like to see them.

Thanks so much for all your efforts.

I have the pictures. Can you send me your email address. It's a quite simple installation actually.

Hi Carl, I think I've sent my email address twice but you may not be getting it, if not I'll give it another try
