Thanks,

Rudy,
You are not far from Lakeland where Sun and Fun is being held RIGHT NOW!
The new LSA Champ is on display over there, so hope you can get over there and take a look or possibly even get a flight in one.

What is sensenich thinking when they are sending out props that cannot take precip?Nathan K. Hammond wrote:It's a Sensenich with Urethane leading edges. Looks really nice, but the leading edge can't handle precip at all.

While I do not look for rain to fly into, there are times that you cannot avoid it and last thing I want to do is to send the prop back every 6 months to be overhauled, especially at the prices that they charge.

Maybe I over stated the problem. It's not like the leading edge is going to wear away after flying threw one rain shower, but it certainly wont last like the old ones.
Let me put it this way, when you are going cross country and encounter a line of rain with good visibility, you'd continue on with an old prop and land with a Urethane edged prop.
But I agree with you Joe.

After seeing it the pictures, I'm glad the ACA is producing some version of the Champ. We need more planes in the sky. Hopefully, they will try a Rotax or a Jabiru again to shave some weight off. Further, maybe ACA will rethink at least change the rear glass to give a more orignial look and put in another 4 or 6 gallons of fuel, possibly in a header tank. Make them (reasonably priced) options? As much as I like the oleo gear look, it's just cheaper and better to use the spring steel gear.
I'm trying think of the plane a very good first cut about to get better. 62 years and the almighty Champ still gets another redux!

Nathan,
I understand the statement about the leading edge. Wood props and rain dont mix.
When we get a chance to sit down and share a bottle of Jack, Ill tell you about my KCA and Fahlin wood prop. Wood props are never the same even if you only get, near, a thunder storm in the Cascades.
