MLG Oleo Strut Servicing
Mike,
I've already been over to see Dennis and his toys. As he says, he isn't very far from me.
Maybe when you come I will drive over to Mt. View and we can all joing the local airport BS group.
If you can't make it to Mt View at least fly into Gaston's grass strip, is is absolutely beautiful. Check the winter sked for the restaurant first though, they close at some strange times.
I fly out of my pasture. N/S is about 1100" over wires at one end and trees at the other. My NW/SE runway is about 900", it is one way in and one way out. I've used these strips for a Stinson, a Navion Rangemaster and the Champ.
You're welcome to fly into my pasture if you are flying a plane that will handle it. Taking off is more of a challenge than landing. I always flew out with minimum fuel and load but don't have that problem with the Champ..

My only objection to Gaston's is that the Champ is down for the annual and that is a very long drive from Ash Flat!
It might be back into the air by the 10th but I doubt it, surely will be by the 15th though. If it is up I'm all for Gaston's.
"...down for the annual..."? And looking at another week? Holy moly, Rocky! Mine has never taken more than about 6 hours.
You either have some serious work needed or the Champ is low on the priority list at the shop.

Jon,
At the time I wrote that I wasn't sure when the AI could come to inspect.
I own about 17 vehicles, mostly oldies, plus three antique tractors and a converted Trailways bus RV so I am spread pretty thin.
I also am adding the shoulder belt STC, patching a tear in the wing and trying to decide the best way to get the pesky headliner out of the way.
We old folks also have a few medical items demanding attention.
I have a water heater needing replacement, a leak in my water supply I can't find plus a chimney cover that needs to be installed.
That is all I can think of right offhand.
As you can see, as much as I enjoy it, the Champ does not enjoy my undivided attention !!
