Sandblasting done.
First pic is the bottom longeron right behind the back seat. I cleaned it up and it is almost ready for the new piece.
Next two are right infront of the door. Damage from before and brazed in.
Last is the post repair from before.
I had measured the strut attach point as per Bill Pancake instructions and it was 3/8 in off. I leveled the bottom cage then moved the level to the top front spar carry through. it was off quite a bit. I moved it to the rear spar carry through and it was farely close. The measurements that I took of the cage seems to be correct so the lenghts are correct. I think it is twisted in the front. I did not check the firewall yet, that could or could not be twisted also.
Can I just put a strap around at 45 deg and tighten to take out the twist then heat?
I know some have had to cut tubes to get this lined up. Which tubes were cut?
I plan on replacing the brace that has been brazed. Should I replace the one that was repaired also and remove the straps that they welded on?
What would the experts do on that corner.
