David Johnson wrote:YES! Do you want me to bring the joiner down when I come in a few weeks? I will leave it with you till you get done or you cut your fingers again. Whichever comes first. What will you need help with Friday? Didn't know what to plan on. I guess you saw I was planning on coming down as early Friday as I can. May be a day for Paul to come up here and get the Grand Tour. If you are free I will get the waiver approved so you can come too. David J.
Most likley he will need some help getting the Cub into shape for the South East Aeronca Fly-in.

Ouch, ouch! The mags are great, now. But before I fixed them I found the tricks to weak Bendix SF-4's
1. Leave it running if you were just stopping to pee or get fuel.
2. Oil can be added to a running A-75.
3. If you have to shut it down and plan on starting it within the next three hours you must park it in the shade, open the upper cowling, and pack ice or cold packs around the mags.
4. Get the McNater starter system and keep it well fed.
So if you ever take apart a Bendix SF-4 and wonder why they put those paddle thingy's in there. It is not there to atomize the oil as it leaks past the original leather seals, it is to keep the coils cool.

Bendix S-4's are orignal but that is all. If anyone wants to be real orginal I could help with a couple of worn out ones, if my friend doesn't use them for boat anchors. If you want to fly use them for core deposits.
They have no impulse and even NOS coils can be marginal. Afterall most are as old as the airplane or older.

Please do not wash all three pair of undies. You need at least one left over with some "aroma" so that the dogs will play with you when you get back home!
Seriously, have a great time and take lots of photos for us who are too far to attend!

Dave,
We met before at a veterans day fly-in Nov 07 at GA2. I stayed overnight at Nate's parents house and helped out with parking airplanes etc during the weekend.
Missed last year due to the cancer treatments so was looking forward to this one. I was tapped to help teach an instructor course for the Department of Interior next week, and a local law enforcement class this week, so had to change plans.
