The Aeromatic cannot be installed on any tapered shaft engine (other than a splined shaft). I talked to Mr. Tarver, and he said that a great number of Aeromatics were used on Cessna 120-140's (all with a flanged shaft). He also said that when he visits Oshkosh, he was going to apply for a weight increase for the LSA aircraft to accomodate his propeller's heavier weight (perhaps 20 pounds). His is also going to ask for an exemption for his self adjusting propeller for use on LSA aircraft. The new Terrafuga (sp?) LSA air/car uses an aeromatic, and has been ok'd for use in that aircaft. Right now, he said that a 337 allowing the use on a DC Champ was doable. I am pretty certain that in South Carolina, you would never get a 337 on it.
I talked to Mr. Tarver for about an hour, and he is a very interesting gentleman.

Cpt Kelly,
That is interesting about the knoppers propeller I had know clue about the set up on cranks.
I know he (Mr. Tarvers) owns all the type certificates for Beech Roby and Flottorp propellers. Do you know if he still makes/approves propeller blades for those propellers??

I don't know if Tarver makes blades for the Beech-Roby prop or others. Why not give him a call?
(775) 423-0378. I'm sure he would like to talk to you. He certainly is a nice gentleman.
