Re: Electric start. Personally I LIKE an electrical system. Electric start, whatever it adds is worth it. In former days, ALOT of people would give you a prop. Today people look at you like your nuts. They are not used to doing it. As I got older (and more nervous) I tended to not like it either although I do it. In a champ, 85-90 hp your not going to burn up the sky so why worry about a little extra weight? I also like STROBES for daylight flying so you can add these too if you like. I currently fly a 65hp with no electric but I wish it had it! I should add that I'm a poor mechanic and a non professional pilot who just likes to fly, especially land an airplane. Landings really are interesting to me as its always fun to try a slip, land in a decent cross wind ,etc. Champs are a blast, easy to fly, good visability and pretty inexpensive to operate. RE: metal props. I think most would agree that while a new wooden prop is cheaper and may look good, a CORRECT metal prop, balanced and in good condition makes a BIG difference in performance provided its the correct one for your airplane.
