I think they paid way too much for the project. While it is quite rare, that doesn't always mean high value. Think of a super-model with a big wart on their face, quite rare but not a valuable asset. My guess this plane would hold about a 20% increase in value. With Champ projects in a similar condition hovering about 7K, I would value it at near $8500. The transportation costs and buyer premium are their costs not yours.
Seen many people get in way over their heads with aircraft. You will have over 30K in this airplane and I don't believe it is a 50K aircraft.

Been following your post over the past year, I understand it went to Virginia, was it parted out? The price on ebid would indicate the new owners knew its value, about right without logs. I understand only one was prototyped and sold. That’s strange usually they are not sold,as a prototype. My Project wasn’t registered for over 30 years, got in contact with two previous owners, they didn’t register because if you don’t register you don’t have to reregister! Plain and simple I guess, made a mess for me,but I got it worked out. HNY
