Joe,
Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, the wife still has a mighty short leash on me and I will not be able to make the trip. Tater and I thought about running up for an over-nighter but that will not happen....
Wish I knew someone in Middletown to refer you to but I don't. Take it easy and hopefully it will calm down.
Everyone have a safe trip. I will have the -16A ready for 2012 for sure.....unless Angie gets pregnant with twins...

Son and myself won't make it either--family unexpectedly demands. We were looking forward to it and had reservations. Been involved with Aeronca's since 1946 and have never been to the factory. Hopefully 2012.

Craptastic. I was all set to go and even had the blessing, somewhat, from kelley until I got double booked with work.
Looks like I'll me skywriting over Texas while you guys are having all the fun.
Joe, Hiatt; what's you're RTB schedule? Sunday I'll be returning from Texas in the Chipmunk, and Monday I'll be moving a CarbonCub from Denver back to ATL. Want to try and hook up if our paths cross?

Nathan,
I am kinda up in the air right now. Am waiting to hear back from my sorta boss to see if we are flying next week or not. If not then I am open and planning on returning to Springfield on Sunday to see my Brother for a day, then who knows. Otherwise may have to leave the Sedan somewhere and airline home to catch up with the jet.
Did you ever have any luck with the STC issue we were talking about?
Doug, sorry to hear about it. Stay in touch...

Well, as I sit here listening to the thunder crashing, black clouds roll past, pouring rain, wind gusting to 40, I'm guessing that the forecast for clear skys today may be incorrect. My 1 pm or anytime departure out of middle tn today isn't looking too great. I would need to be gone by 3 pm at the latest and radar is showing another mess moving towards and across the route north after this present mess moves past. I think I will go out and load the Chief and try for an early departure tomorrow. Shucks.

Old Axion "Got Time To Spare Go By Air" nowadays "If You Have More Time Yet Take a Jet."

PS-- I had the motorhome on standby until it was apparent I wasn't going to be able to go. Champ was achopin' at the bit too.

That is a fact. Through the years I have found myself on occasion sitting at somewhere, USA, wondering when I'd be able to continue on. GA, the little ones, is not a very practical means of efficient transportation....but a bunch of fun though. Sometimes I think about getting something a little speedier and IFR capable....but really wouldn't use it enough to justify the expense. I'd still mostly just float around the sky looking down at the cow pastures. Aeroncas do that great.

Basically that's the reason I sold my Cherokee after I finished my first Champ. I didn't feel I'd be able to get and stay IRF proficient and although our youngest and his family live 1200 miles away in Texas we never flew down there in the Cherokee as it would have cost more than flying commerical, dollar wise, with a pretty good chance of getting hung up somewhere with bad weather. Loved the plane, though.
Now a cross country is 50 miles in the Champ.
