How much do you weight?

I have a 1946 7AC converted to the C-85-8, small tail, McCauly metal prop, original interior (metal sidewalls) but the seats were redone (cotton and artificial leather), motorbike battery, nav lights, beacon, radio, XPDR, normal landing gear.

Last weight report shows 400kg empty. (880 lbs)

Good or bad??

Hi Oliver, sounds like its right in the area, my 7DC with 100 hp cont. and full electrical (no lights) no fabric on interior walls just plane fabric seats weighs 938 lb.

My 7AC, 65 with Cessna mufflers, big tail, big rear seat, leatherette covered metal wall panels, metal prop and finshed with Superflite came in at 838#. I was hoping for less than 800#. Superflite is pretty heavy, but not 38# heavy. Even "plain janes" with dope seem to come in around 800# or so, although some claim lighter.

'46 7AC conv DC, C85-12, ...metal prop, large tail, 12v battery, starter, alternator, spin-on filter, no bounce, wide back seat, upholstered panels, radio, tranponder/encoder, two 12.5 gal wing tanks, nav lites, landing lites, strobes, ELT, pants, ceconite, imron, .....empty wt 974 lbs., useful load 376 lbs., more than likely, it'll be going on a diet, I've only had it a month, so I thought I'd get 50 or 60 hours on it and then tear it down for restoration. take care, Jim

that's what I said 10 years and 800 hours ago. And I'm only having to tear it down because a spar went Tango Uniform.

I have a similar aeroplane, with wooden propellor, electrics, but minus nav lights (removed recently), giving a new weight of 923lbs and MAUW of 1220lbs.

How do you acquire 1350 MAUW?
Is it too late to ask Santa?

Good Morning CC, ...I like your slogan, ...7AC converted to 7DC, 1220# can go to 1300# when converted, then to 1350# with no bounce gear. take care, Jim

I wish mine would be a bit lighter, but it is covered with cotton... and I believe that is a bit heavier than ceconite?

Anyway, after 35 years (in the hanger and not flown much) the covering is very good...

My 85/O-200 L3 weighs 790 empty
A pal of mine from New carlisle Ohio, "Dick Alkyre" once told me that before you install anything in your airplane; HOLD it waist high and drop it on the floor first. If it makes any noise at all its too heavy to install in the airplane. LOL!
