15AC Sedan Projects for sale

Post by bsafran »

With the exception of Burl Rogers, I believe I am the biggest fan of the Aeronca Sedan on the planet! Unfortunately, I can't rebuild every one of them myself, but I am dedicated to getting as many of these fantastic airplanes out to the flying public as I can. My dreams seem to have outdistanced my life expectancy and I have sadly had to come to grips with the fact that I am not going to be able to do this on my own. I have three 15AC projects and only have the time and resources to finish and fly just one. The other two will be offered for sale around mid April when the weather lets us move things around the hangar without risking frostbite. Each airplane has a Continental 145 engine, but no prop or instruments. I am willing to assist any prospective owner with any advice, tooling, whatever... to help get these planes out of the hangar and into the traffic pattern. I am placing this notice, along with a Barnstormers ad, just to see if there is any interest in aquiring one of the roomiest, best flying taildraggers ever designed. If you are only an optomist who will buy and then end up storing one of these planes, I am not interest in selling to you. If you can convince me that you are a capable metalworker, fabric man who will move forward with a project and have it flying within 5 years, we will become not only business partners, but also best friends. No need to move quickly, warm spring weather is still a stretch away, but let's get the wheels in motion. Give me a call. The planes are in northern Ohio and in the Barnstormers ad I have them listed for $11,500 and $10,000. The phone number is 330-483-3278. I hope this message gets out to the right people. I don't want to die not seeing these planes buzzing through our airport from time to time!

Brian,

You are really, really not helping me any!!! :)

You know I really want a Sedan and its the only thing that could ever pry me out of my Chief.

Working on a few things right now and if one of them pans out might just be calling you! Any chance you are flying out this way anytime soon? I owe you lunch anyway!

sedan for sale

Hi there! What section is the sedan listed in barnstormers. Taildraggers, repairables, etc...?? I have rebuilt and flown my chief now for almost 10 years. I agree with joe that I would never get rid of my chief BUT, My friend bought a beautiful sedan out of northern IOWA from a farmers estate sale, I missed bidding out on the second sedan that was apart. Is one of your sedans from this auction? Anyway , he has no pilots license so I have had the privilege of flying his plane around for the past two years and love it to death!!!! the space is great. I have been kicking myself to death for not hanging with the other bidders. It went for 7500 and was a good builder. I will be calling you, plus I have relatives in N. Ohio. Maybe we will take the sedan on a nice cross country this spring.

This is a very tempting offer. I have been interested in a Sedan project for a while, but haven't seen one in my area. One advantage for me is I live 2 miles from Burl Rogers. The disadvantage for me is the planes are in Ohio and I'm in Alaska. Any idea what shipping would cost?
