Received a phone call from a friend last night relating an accident in Mt. Ida, Ar involving a 7AC. The information was second hand and may not be accurate. But this is what I was told. Two young guys, about 19, were flying a champ from Florida to Colorado for the owner. They attempted to land on an east-west runway at Mt. Ida, Arkansas. The winds were about 15 gusting to over 20 out of the south. They were landing for fuel. Ironically, Mt. Ida has no fuel. Also, just east of Mt. Ida, they passed over or very near Hot Springs which has a runway more into the wind and fuel. Damage was to the right side: wing tip, landing gear and prop.

Hope everyone is ok. Used to live in the Ozarks but never been to that airport.

Would not like to be the one making the call to the owner... :(

Joe, I understand just hurt feelings, thank goodness. The owner of the airport is looking at it today and will be here tomorrow night. Will have more info them.

Where in the Ozarks did you live?

Dennis,

Springfield Mo area. Love it back there but hate the ice storms and tornado's.

Low humidity, sun and warm weather of Arizona is hard to beat!
