Still looking for an LSA Champ with starter

Post by rudymantel »

This week I nearly bought a nice 7AC with C-85-12 and light weight starter. I traveled half-way across the country with a certified bank check, intending to fly it home. Unfortunately, the airplane suffered from a total lack of documentation and the engine had a checkered (and also undocumented) history. Sadly, I returned by commercial airline.

I know it might turn into a single-place airplane. That's OK. I just like to go to the airport (tower-operated) about once a week and shoot touch & go's.

I'd be most grateful for any leads on such an airplane.

Rudy,

Have you looked in the "for sale" section here? Believe that there is one Champ listed there in the last few days.

Rudy,

There is a 1946 Champ on Ebay right now. It has a C85 with the -12 accessory housing on the engine, which means that it can have a starter and generator installed on it.

Right now it has no starter or electrical system on it, so it should be an LSA legal airplane. You might email the owner by asking a question on Ebay and see but this could be the right airplane for you!

Rudy,

If you need the Champ looked at, MikeK (above post) or the new thread below) is not far away and could look at the airplane. Its always nice to have someone independent look at the bird, especially another Champ owner.
