Oshkosh??
Oshkosh??
Whose planning on attending Oshkosh this year? I'm guessing the NAA will still have their booth in the "Type Tent". I generally drive as I'm only about 175 miles west (other side of the state), but am seriously thinking about flying the Champ over this year. Mostly I hate camping and sleeping on the ground (tough on the old back) and it's hard to make any kind of reservations close to the date (weather depending), but I'll be there for a couple of days anyway. Probably toward the middle of the week.

For what it's worth, I'm going to fly the chief down on floats. I was always a little scared to try flying in on wheels but the "Vette" should be a piece of cake. Hope to meet some of you down there!!!

Hi Mike,
Yep, come over to the type club tent and say "Hi" and stock up on your NA and Aeronca shirts
Check out an inflatable air mattress...they are surprisingly comfortable, even for old backs.

Should also mention that if anyone is interested in overnight camping on their way to OSH feel free to stop in at Brion Memorial located in Strum, Wi. We're about 150 miles west and the airport identifier is 3wn9 on airnav.com and Green Bay sectional. Shoot me an email and we could share a frosty brew
and maybe some good old Wisconsin brats if it works out.

I'm heading over in the Chipmunk either Sunday night or Monday morning. Should be there for a couple days, then towards the end of the show to retreave airplanes. I'll be sure to swing the the type club tent.
Do they run a shuttle over to Vette? Would love to check out a Champ/Chief on floats for future refference.

Nate, they have a bus that runs all day long. you pick it up at the start of the south 40, south of the ultralights. If you stop by the type club tent towards evening, Jim might take us down in the truck. I know he would love to spend a little time with you. They usually have some good food down there.

There is a shuttle to Milwaukee departing about 11:00. The cost is less than $40 depending on the number of passengers if I read it correctly. You can get the info and sign up on the eaa hot line web site. I suspect this will be my passengers way to Milwaukee.

Another champ and myself are leaving at first light Sunday the 22nd. Will arrive at Dodge County airport (Juneau, WI.) @ 9am, fuel, call the tower and be at OSH somewhere between 10-10:30AM. If anyone wants to rondevue at Dodge CO and fly up with, let me know. Also, I will have my cell phone with me all week. (309-883-0749) give me a call if you want to get together.

I'll be at Oshkosh Monday and Tuesday for sure. Was all set to fly the Champ over and found my "no blow" exhaust gaskets blown out on one cylinder
No parts available over the weekend so guess I'll drive. About a 200 mile trip. Weather looks great, although very hot. Might fly over later in the week just for kicks if I get the Champ back in action.

Mike, I am new to this bulliten board and am reading your comment about going to Oshkosh. You wrote your comment before the 2007 AirVenture. I have been there(Oshkosh) the last two years and drove up from South Carolina. I am definitely flying this year. May I suggest housing for you? I have stayed at the University of Wisc dorms the last two years and it is great. Bus pass can be obtained for $20 that allows you to ride back and forth any time all day long..all week. the rooms are nice. good food in the Blackhaawk Commons cafeteria. 2 single beds in each room. I think the rooms are $50 per night next year...up from $48 the lst two years. It is hard to beat the convenience, the comfort and the price. I have already gotten my room for next year and would recomment this as a great place to sleep...better than the ground.
