14th National Aeronca Association Convention in Middletown

Post by bwmatz »

Ok folks,

Mark your calendars for June 12-15, 2008 for the 14th National Aeronca Association Convention in Middletown, Ohio. With AirVenture 2007 behind us, we've set our sights on the making this one of the best conventions yet...and we need your help.

We are looking for new ideas to breathe new life into the event. Let us know what types of things you want to see. We'll still do the factory tour, the Air Force Museum trip, the forums, aircraft judging etc, but if there's anything else you'd like to see, let's hear it.

Also, we can always use help getting set up and tearing down. If anyone can come early or stick around a bit on Sunday, we'd really appreciate it. We're there as early as the Sunday before getting everything ready and usually there 'till Sunday afternoon taking everything down and loading the truck.

More info on the Convention will be posted to the website, so keep checking back.

Thanks to all the members for your continuing support of the NAA!

June Fly-in

Post by CptBach »

Hey Brian,

Here's a thought: I've always enjoyed watching and flying in same-type formations. If I can get the Wisconsin and Michigan Sedan contingent together, we'd have 7 or 8 Sedans.

Sure would be cool to get a bunch together in the air at once!

How about a chronological fly-by or flight of each type with a C3, K and LC leading a TC, L3, Chief, Champ, Lancer, and Sedan?

We had 5 Sedans at Brodhead this year and SN#1 was a few miles away but not flying at the time. It sure was satisfying to see so many Sedans in the Midwest...beats flying to ALaska to see that many at once :)

Enjoy your holiday everyone,

Hi, My friend and myself are coming for sure. Every time there has been a fly in at meiddletown I can,t go.. NOT this year. I would love to join the the sedan "grouping" or flyover or.... We are from Minnesota and would love to show off the sedan. It has only been seen a few times and she's 9/10. As we get closer, let me know what the plan is. Sedan Squadron

Post by CptBach »

Hey John,

If you're coming around the south end of the lake, pick us up on the way by!

I'll try to get Scott from Brodhead, HG from Oshkosh, and another from Poplar Grove. IL to join in. Maybe the 4 of us can join with the guys out of Holland, MI and do a flight of SIX into Middletown.

There's another Sedan or two up your way and another in Green Bay. Wouldn't it be neat to see a dozen or so Sedans this year?

Feel free to call and I"ll coordinate a group list, send reminders, and plan the flight. Even if the Sedan sells, I'll be there.

2008 NAA Convention

Post by Robert Henley »

I am a newbie to the association. I would like to attend but I won't have my Champ flying by then so we will arrive, hopefully, in a 1947 Beechcraft Bonanza.

What is the convention hotel/motel? Is there a planned trip to the Air Force Museum in Dayton? What day will that be and how do we get there?

I am a planner so that is my reason for all the questions. I want to provide the info to the wife so we can get it on our travel schedule. :)

Geez, I knew there is a reason I like living west of the Mississippi River. I did a MapQuest directions from Middletown to Dayton to see how far it is. Low and behold, there are three Middletowns in Ohio. I am guessing the convention is held in Butler County Middletown. Is that correct?

I could see myself showing up in Middletown and wondering where everybody is. "Oh, you want the other Middletown."

Robert,

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?fo ... code=45042

Will be back in Arizona in 3 weeks or so and we can get together sometime this spring and will give you a hand with figuring all of this out.

I usually stay at the Fairfield there but there using the points that I get while traveling with my work, but there are other hotels around. We will get a good rate at several hotels in the area and post this information as it gets closer.

Jody,

Great and would love to meet her. As well she might sell some more insurance to Aeronca owners!

Am very happy with the service she has given me over the years.

Hope to see you there and here is a good reason to attend!

This is a photo of the last fly-in on Saturday. The gaps you see in the lines above are from the airplanes going out flying. Jody Wittmeyer was giving rides to everyone and anyone most of the day as well so airplanes were coming and going. We had more airplanes to arrive after this photo was taken.

Believe that this summer's fly-in will be quite a bit bigger.
