Fuel Shutoff valve Handle

Hate to start a new topic here but I'm going blind trying to find a creative mod I believe I saw on this forum. It's a custom mechanism to prevent the fuel shutoff handle/lever from "migrating" back up towards the "off" position.

So far it's been no problem but I find it unnerving that it won't stay put in the "on" position.

Anyone know where this discussion resides?

My fuel shut off has a spring loaded rod that slides to the right to turn the fuel on and then with the fuel handle in the down position slides back to the left to hold the fuel shut off handle in the down or on position.

I believe there's a service letter for that particular installation (spring loaded). Seems most Champs have the one you're describing. Mine has a fabricated tab with a screw that holds the shutoff lever in the down position (was on there when I bought the project). Someone on the forum may know where to find the exact service letter.

Ended up attaching a small nut clip in the existing fuel valve handle/mag panel. Attached to the panel is a simple aluminum arm which rotates as required to hold the FV lever in the "ondown" position.

It's a simple friction fit with a couple of small AN washers as required depending on small machine screw length. Works well - simple and "detachable" for the feds if required.

My shutoff handle is just an "L" shaped bar, up is off and down is on so it can't ever shut off by accident.

From these posts I assume mine is not original??

That's the original handle, Gus. Sometimes vibration works the handle up, especially if it does not go down to being flush with the back of the eustachion

A little piece of self adhesive velcro solves the problem.
