REM37BY Plugs For Continental C-90?

My 7EC has unshielded plugs (M41E's) in the the top of the front cylinders. They sit inside what I think are called "Ercoupe caps", and I've always had problems with these plugs. I've read here about folks using the shorter REM37BY plugs in place of REM40E's, so I bought one and found that with a new harness, I have the clearance to use them.
The Champion and Autolite application charts don't show the REM37BY as being approved for the C-90. The Autolite chart also doesn't show they're approved for the 0-200, but it does show the 0-300.
The question is, is there a problem using REM37BY's in a C-90, or have they just not been approved yet? Is anyone here using them in a C-90?
Thanks,
Jay
