As of Jan 2008, here is what I know is current:
There are plans for a 1/3 scale Aeronca Champ at RCModeler's website. There are also TIFF files of the same planset for sale on Ebay... it's cheaper to get the plans from RCM once you figure in Kinkos reprinting..
Very scale, impressive.
Next down the scale is 1/4 scale from William Hosettler's models and also from IKON NW. Both them need a little work to get scale, mostly minor details. Add to that old Bud Nosen kits on Ebay.
Next down from that, ebay has 1/5 scale A&A Industries kits that are unopened, new old stock. Going for about 100 a pop. Scaled down Nosen models.
Now, down to Pat's Custom Models 1/8 scale. Also there is "NIck's Champ" that isn't in kit form yet, but is a little bit bigger than 1/8 scale at 60" wingspan.
Down one more step, the old Gulliows 7EC model for about $24.
Then Dare engineering 7AC Champ kit, rubber powered.
That's about all for the kits. There are plenty of plansets out there if you want to scratch build one too.
Add to that old Ebay plans from the 1950s when you really didn't need to be scale to be called an Aeronca Champ.

What would really be cool....
Do you know what would really be cool? Build a model 7AC using small aluminun tubing, welded like 4130 tubes. Then cover it like a real plane.
I don't know how one would make the aluminum wing ribs, but I bet it could be done. Now THAT would be a scale model. To finish it off, use a 4 stroke, 4 cylinder engine to power it. I'd love to see that one fly.
