Hi heres a site with L-16 manuals they would be about as close as one can get.
http://www.pj260.com/manuals.htm
The picture isn't the best guess its been copied too many times.
As best I can tell, looking at the panel: Left to right Tachometer next the cabin heat control, Altimeter, Oil temp gage, Up in the cover the Fuel gage, in the middle a slip/ball below that the compass card below that placard, next to the right oil pressure gage, Compass, engine primer and then the Airspeed indicator,

Wow....

Thanks MnFlyer,
What a wealth of information. I'll refer to that info many times in the future.

Are you talking about a 7AC?
We laid ours out based on the drawing in the "7A Aeronca Champion Service Manual"
This is a picture of the panel when we bought the project. It looks like the service manual drawing with the addition of 2 instruments above the original position of the oil temp and oil pressure gauges.
You can see photos of Bob and Harold Armstrong's Champ on the following link. You will see that they placed the oil temp and oil pressure gauges higher on the panel than we did. We looked at these pictures and decided the drawing in the service manual was probably the correct placement.
They also placed their compass card in the upper middle position. We placed ours directly above the compass in accordance with the service manual drawing

I thought it was one of those things that old Champ drivers sits on so their exhaust port don't get sore. Mark
